I have to sadly admit, I am too good for my own good sometimes. It is kind of hard to pull the wool over my eyes - sometimes I wish this wasn't so - because then I ruin the great planning techniques of my fabulous friends.
I knew something was up because Richard had said earlier in the week that Zoe had booked me for Saturday evening after I had finished tutoring. The fact that he didn't call me or Kev after my tutoring had them drop the ball a bit =p
But yes, I was still wonderfully surprised by the amount of people that showed up to sushi buffet!!! Some people that I didn't even expect, so yes, the surprise factor was still there! I loved spending time with these people. And the fact that the po-po showed up made it even better - a bit, just a bit more exciting!
Pictures below from the evening of fun!

After dinner we went to Richard's for fun and games! Some played Pictionary as others played poker upstairs. There were two surprises that they got by me, the cake and the wonderful poem. The cake was disgustingly good - but after sushi buffet it was utter destruction. And the poem that they wrote for me is below:
To Vicki, our friend whom we love very much...
whose actions are extremely clutch... (you trapped me in my own kitchen)
She's loving and gentle and surprises us with all kinds of stuff
So her poker face always throws us off, cuz she might go "all-in" on a bluff
Her voice can amplify and silence a crowd... (mom mode)
Booming or soft, she will find success, most of the time loud
She knows a lot about her friends, including the one with Rachel, Monica and Ross.
You might have met her in a ministry, whether in MCAC, CCF, Zoe or as your softball boss.
Oh, if you're fielding, while she's batting, try not to get burned
Woe to that player, but it's a lesson learned
A wise & strong teacher she is
Whether you're a grade 7 kid or a Bible trivia whiz
Smile for her camera, because she'll take pics until the battery has drained... (all the facebook pics!)
Endless blackmail pictures insures her reign... (well...she has tons on me vince and jeff)
Vicki is a blessing to us, it's not hard to see
She's a gift from God to us, the best treasures on earth really are free.
I know I am loved, and these people know me so well. They got so many parts of my personality down it's kind of scary =p
But I had a wonderful birthday because of these great friends, making it a great beginnning to a year that I am sure will be full of surprises!
