On Saturday morning, Kev and I showed up late for gym day, but it's all good because apparently they had not started much. We played some fun games like dodgeball with a few twists - we played it where we had to knock bowling pins down and also we were allowed back into the game if the person that hit us gets knocked out of the game. I guess that funny thing that happens - and it seems like this happens kind of often at Zoe gym days is that I beaned someone in the head... *sigh* he got in the way of my throw towards the pin! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Aban and Phoebe met us at church around 12ish where we started heading towards Emily's house in Richmond Hill. The drive was quite pleasant as there was not a lot of traffic despite it being a little drizzly at times. We arrived before the 1 o'clock deadline and there was a bunch of hugs and tour of the new house. After Winnie and Jamie arrived and we had been fed by auntie Heidi, we headed to Spadina House for the rehearsal.
The rehearsal went pretty well with some extremely funny moments - auntie Heidi's go-go dancing, "drip-dry", cleaning grass off of a pair of Birks, "fay jie", among others. There was slight concern for the weather as Saturday afternoon was just a really blah day - the clouds opening up every so often, some rain, no sunshine and lots of humidity. It was crazy to realize how much planning had been done for those two days - and sometimes we can't plan for everything! We could just pray for the weather! (and God delivers!)
Rehearsal dinner followed later in the evening after the boys had finished playing soccer and the girls had finished with the centrepieces. There was some yummy, yummy food!! After dinner we went back to Em's house to pack up my car full of sound equipment and headed home.
Sunday morning included Sunday service before Kev, Phoebe, and I headed to the Rosewater Supper Club to drop off the sound equipment for the reception. Let me tell what a wonderful adventure that was! The Scotiabank Toronto Marathon was going on and they closed the Jameson, York, Bay, Yonge, and Jarvis off-ramps, this meant that ONLY the Spadina off-ramp was open, can we say utter destruction?! There were adventures traversing the streets of Toronto after we exited onto Lakeshore where the Expressway ended. But we eventually got to the Rosewater, parked illegally, unloaded the sound equipment, had the boys stand by the cars, set up the centrepieces, changed into our dresses, and then off to Spadina House we went!
The drive to Spadina house was also an adventure as we had to go through tons of traffic because the Word on the Street festival was going on! In the words from Grey's Anatomy, like seriously?! seriously?! However, we actually made it to Spadina House in good time with the help of Richard's map book. But more fun to come, as the photographers were stuck in traffic and the car with the dress had gotten a little lost. However, even with all the chaos, the bride and groom stayed calm, at least from what I saw. But then again, I was seeing everything as they unfolded - and even if it was stressing at the time it was well worth it for one of my dear friends!
She made a BEAUTIFUL bride and the Lord blessed us with a GLORIOUS day full of sunshine and a wedding full of TEARS, LAUGHS, and LOVE!

The ceremony was followed up with the reception at the Rosewater Supper Club. I loved the personal touches they put into the reception. There were a number of tears shed on my part during the parents' toasts (Uncle Jack & Auntie Heidi are really funny), the MoHs' toasts, and during Emily and Dan's speeches. The night ended with lots of dancing (including some line-dancing from the aunties!), wonderful music, friends - past & present, and celebrating the marriage of Mr. & Mrs. Teo!
